Rudy Giuliani remarks on Steve Perry '76 and Browning:
"It was neither a sense of obligation nor a need to be recognized that drove Stephen Perry to give so generously. He loved to do it. It was all part of his innate desire to wring the most out of life. As a husband, a father, a son and a friend, he always gave his all, because that's who he was. As a native New Yorker with civic pride in his bones, and a second-generation Greek with shipping in his blood, he gave his all, always, to make things better for everyone around - at the office or on the street, at a Rangers game or in the park - because that's the kind of guy he was. To know him was to love him, and to see him flop around in the mud before a soccer game on a lousy day - a regular part of his routine, along with winning championships - was to be thankful that he was on your team. Only the venue changed. He didn't. It could have been French class or the stage at Hewitt, the gym upstairs, or Asphalt Green. With Stephen, it was always play your hardest, work your hardest. It would show in the end. And it did, first with the ever-lasting rewards of family and friendship, and now the enduring legacy of a grateful school."
