Programming at Browning - The Upper School

Every student at Browning enters the Upper School with a required technology class that is a self paced, blended learning technology course. Form III (9th Grade) boys learn the fundamentals of computer science throughout the semester and are expected to have a basic understanding of JavaScript by the end of the course. At the end of the semester, boys will have a chance to put their JavaScript knowledge to use by creating simple web apps using Google Coder and a Raspberry Pi.

Form IV (10th Grade) offers an elective course (Intro to Computer Science) that allows the students to continue learning JavaScript, and hopefully make it far enough in the self paced, blended learning curriculum (codehs.com) to create the classic videogame “Breakout”.
