Week in Pictures, March 6-17

Over the weekend of March 11, 20 Browning chess players competed in the NY State Chess Championship in Saratoga Springs. One of our second grade boys is the 2017 NY State Individual Primary Reserve Champion, having led his team to first place ahead of 23 competing schools! A Pre-primary boy took home a trophy for second place in his division.

Our Middle School reserve team finished in third place, while our JHS Championship team finished sixth. Congratulation to the boys and to John Kennedy, chess director!

Mr. Symons took Grade Five boys to The Practice Worldwide, the studio of music producer and Browning parent and alum Ali Theodore ’88. There they took a behind-the-scenes look at the technology and process that goes into creating music for film and television.

The Mock Trial team has started off their season strong, winning Rounds 1 and 2 against Columbia Prep and Horace Mann, as well as earning a bye that places them in the Top 16 teams in all of New York City!

Form IV Music Survey class members took in a final dress rehearsal for the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra's production of Beethoven's "Fidelio." Browning parent Vincent Lionti, violist with the Met Opera, generously gave the boys a backstage tour before the performance.

The Advanced Topics in Science Astronomy class headed out to the American Museum of Natural History to meet with the Astrophysics department and take a tour of the planetarium.
