Browning's Alumni Council hosted the 6th Annual Alumni Note-a-thon in the Wilson Room on Monday, February 24. Thirty-five volunteers helped sign, personalize, stuff and stamp more than 500 letters to classmates and fellow alumni. The purpose of the Note-a-thon is to promote Alumni Reunion (this year on Friday, May 2) as well as encourage alumni to contribute to Browning's Annual Fund. A brief Alumni Council meeting was also held on Monday night, with special guest Soo Mi Thompson, director of annual giving. Huge thanks to all the alumni who volunteered time and energy to this important effort!
On Friday, January 24, Browning and Marymount hosted an alumni function together for the second year in a row at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, followed by a lively reception across the street at the Marymount School. At the Met, guests had the opportunity to enjoy student-guided tours comparing and contrasting aspects of the museum's permanent collection with several of the special exhibitions. Special exhibits "Silla: Korea's Golden Kingdom" and "Jewels by JAR" were highlighted alongside the Greek and Roman Galleries, and "Ink Art: Past as Present in Contemporary China" was toured in conjunction with the Islamic Galleries. At Marymount, guests enjoyed wine and cheese compliments of the two hosting schools. Close to 100 guests from both schools attended, and we look forward to repeating this event in the future. Special thanks to Marymount for being such gracious co-hosts!

On Friday, December 13, Browning's annual Holiday Party was hosted by the Parents Association at the School. Hundreds of alumni, parents, faculty and friends attended for a festive evening of drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Alums and their guests turned out in record numbers to bid farewell to Director of Institutional Advancement Marty Haase, who is leaving Browning at the end of this calendar year.
On Wednesday, November 27, Browning hosted the annual Young Alumni Reunion, a Thanksgiving tradition. More than 25 young alumni from the classes of 2009-2013 returned to School to visit with classmates, faculty and current students. The day began with the traditional Thanksgiving Assembly held at Christ Church where alumni were brought on stage by Headmaster Clement and Mr. Pelz '71. Following the assembly, alumni, faculty and Form VI enjoyed a luncheon in the newly-renovated cafeteria compliments of Chef Omar and his team. Happy Holidays!
Browning’s 125th birthday celebration was reason to roll out the red carpet for the School community and close 62nd Street for the evening on Saturday, October 5. Guests, more than 600 in number, could barely believe their eyes when they saw the School building festooned in a red ribbon and bow. With white tents in front of the red doors, Browning's Key Society boys dressed in vintage clothing, and an appearance by John A. Browning himself, it was a party to remember!
Balloons bearing the 125th anniversary logo and interior-exterior video screens beckoned guests to share in a look back at Browning’s storied history while enjoying a tour of the wonderful renovations that have taken place in the past few years. The new lobby, expanded gym, cafeteria and technology and media center, as well as the outdoor terrace, provided venues for conversation, cocktails and camaraderie as alumni, parents, grandparents and faculty shared in the excitement of Browning’s past, present and future.
Rounding out the evening were remarks by Headmaster Stephen M. Clement, III and Board of Trustees President James Chanos who announced STRONG AND TRUE: The Campaign for Browning. Please look for more information in the mail about the campaign, and enjoy the photo gallery!
