Members of the Class of 2020 at last came together on July 1 to celebrate their accomplishments and receive their diplomas after being apart for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Operating under New York State rules that allowed for graduations at a maximum capacity of 150, the graduating senior class and their parents, as well as faculty and staff, were allowed to gather for an outdoor, socially distant graduation at the Museum of the City of New York.

During the ceremony, each boy collected his diploma and stood in front of his classmates as Head of School Dr. Botti remarked upon the major accomplishment of each graduate—providing an impressive review of their years at Browning.

Browning welcomed commencement speaker Chris Whipple, journalist and author of The Spymasters: How the CIA Directors Shape History and the Future, as well as Student Council President Austin Stapleton ’20, who announced that the senior class gift would benefit the School’s financial aid program. The senior class’ generosity during this unprecedented period in time in turn inspired the School to also make a donation to the Equal Justice Initiative in honor of them.

Congratulations to the senior class! #BrowningStrong.
