College Tour Features Schools in Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

Fifty-four Form V and VI boys set off on the 26th annual college tour from September 18-20. The tour focused on the mid-Atlantic states this year, and included stops at American University, Dickinson College, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Howard University, Lafayette College, and the University of Maryland at College Park. The boys spent three days and two nights on the road, and in addition to tours and information sessions, ate lunch and dinner at the institutions to get a better feel for the campuses.

The goal of the tour each year is for boys to experience different types of schools---and open their eyes to choices that they might not have previously explored. While helping junior boys develop their initial college lists, for senior boys the trip provides an opportunity for further refinement of  their final selections. Just as importantly, the boys enjoyed the bonding with each other and the faculty members--Head of Upper School Gene Campbell, College Guidance Counselor Sanford Pelz ’71, Dean of Student Life Sam Permutt, and science teacher Travis McIntosh--who were on the trip.
