“Hello Holidays” Sets Tone for Annual End-of-Year Program

The Browning School’s annual Holiday Program, held on December 22 in Temple Emanu-El, heralded the season with its theme of “Hello, Holidays!” Led by Music Department Chair Lucy Warner, along with Richard Symons, Middle and Upper School music teacher, the program was attended by the entire Browning community, including parents and extended family members. Head of School John Botti welcomed everyone to this festive event, remarking on the many hours of effort and rehearsal that contributed to its success.

Members of the congregation joined in singing traditional carols, while the boys presented readings and musical performances. The Upper and Middle School Choruses, Tick-Tock Orchestra, Holiday Strings Orchestra, Starbright Strings, Holly Jolly Dancers, Ovation Orchestra, A CaPanthers, Browning Balladeers and Browning Jazz Ensemble all displayed their hard work and talent during the course of the program.

Among the reading selections were “New Year’s Morning” by Helen Hunt Jackson, “Remember” by Joy Harjo and “Invitation” by Mary Oliver. Popular holiday tunes and traditional carols were among the musical selections. Remarks by representatives of both the Middle School Student Council and Upper School Student Government were also part of the mix.

The program was a festive finale to 2017 and a great send-off for the community as they headed into winter recess.
